The JOBS Act is back and better than last year’s! State Rep. Graves has introduced new JOBS Act bills that are a new and improved version of the JOBS Act bills that were vetoed last year by the Governor.

Click on each bill to read full text: HB 1023 & HB 1024

For long-time AFPGA members, you may remember calling and emailing to help get similar bills passed last year. Your efforts were fruitful, as it easily passed the House and Senate. Then the Governor vetoed it. While it still retains major provisions from last year’s bills, several changes are important. Perhaps the best change is the addition of the Angel Investor tax credit, which will be a shot in the arm to small businesses seeking venture capital. Other provisions of the bill include: ”Year of the GA Entrepreneur, ” which eliminates state business start up fees; incentives for hiring people on unemployment; getting rid of intangibles tax, reduction in capital gains tax, and a phase out of sales tax deposits for small businesses.

There are a number of bills we’re keeping an eye on that affect our economy in GA. Would you like to sign up to be a GA bill watcher this Session? Let us know!

Applause: Special thanks to the Vogans of Atlanta Teleproductions for filming your response at our State of the Union Watch Party last week and to Stella Lohmann for being our official photographer. Be sure to watch tonight at 8 for the peoples response.
