RICHMOND – On Wednesday, the United States Senate voted 51-47 against repealing government mandated healthcare, with Senator Jim Webb (D-Virginia) voting in the majority.
Americans for Prosperity’s Virginia State Director Ben Marchi today released the following statement:
"By casting the deciding vote against repealing ObamaCare, Senator Jim Webb has shown that he is truly out of touch with Virginians and with a majority of Americans. Webb has yet again ignored the overwhelming voice of the people, who would rather have seen good government prevail this afternoon instead of letting a textbook example of big-government regulation like ObamaCare stand.
Senator Jim Webb and his colleagues like Harry Reid and Mark Warner should be looking to spur private investment and innovation in the healthcare industry instead of placing costly mandates on businesses and individuals. However, Senate liberals like Webb would rather continue to unconstitutionally limit access to quality healthcare and drown Virginians and Americans alike in higher premiums, mandated coverage, and limited choices.
Rest assured, Americans for Prosperity will not forget today's vote and will continue to educate citizens of the Commonwealth in the coming months on Senator Webb's stance against repealing government-mandated healthcare."
