“More broken promises and bad news from Washington for Wisconsin taxpayers”
MADISON – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin, the nation’s premier grassroots organization with over 113,000 members, issued the following statement in reaction to President Obama’s federal budget proposal that includes a $1.9 trillion tax increase and a plan to spend over $20 trillion in just the next five years:
“The President’s budget is chocked full of more broken promises and bad ideas that will grow the federal government at a time when Wisconsin’s families, job creators, and small businesses can afford it the least,” said Luke Hilgemann, AFP-Wisconsin State Director. “President Obama’s refusal to address the massive entitlements and federal debt that are starving our nation of prosperity, shows just how out of touch this President’s policies are with the priorities of most Wisconsinites.”
“If President Obama is serious about building a sustainable budget for the future, he should look to Wisconsin for help. When faced with a $3.6 billion deficit, Gov. Walker confronted the problem head on with a series of budget reforms that prioritized state finances with no massive program cuts, layoffs, or tax increases. And the Governor’s plan is working…taxpayers across the state have experienced the benefits of reform first hand with hundreds of millions in savings returning to their pocketbooks and family budgets, rather than the government coffers in Madison.”
“At a time when families across the state and nation are looking for true leadership to pull our country back from the brink of bankruptcy, President Obama’s budget promises more of the same from Washington – too much spending and too many taxes.”
