Americans for Prosperity to Host Ohio “Tea Party” Protesting Big Government Spending, Mar. 14
Congressman Jim Jordan to participate in “Tea Party”
AFP to launch FeesAreTaxes.com in online effort to oppose wasteful spending

COLUMBUS- Americans for Prosperity will host an Ohio taxpayer tea party rally with US Congressman Jim Jordan in Columbus Saturday, March 14th to protest ballooning government spending on both the federal and state levels.

“This event will be a great opportunity to provide grassroots activists and interested citizens an opportunity to express their opposition to this deluge of spending to our elected officials and to the media,” said Jack Boyle, state director of AFP-Ohio.

At the event, AFP-Ohio will launch FeesAreTaxes.com, a website and online campaign designed to educate Ohio citizens about Governor Strickland's attempt to hide more than $1.25 billion spent in "revenue enhancements" during his 2009-2010 "no tax increase" budget. It will also expose future spending obligations for which Ohio will be responsible if the state accepts federal assistance from the Pelosi/Reid/Obama so-called stimulus to close this year's budget gap.

“FeesAreTaxes.com will allow Ohio citizens to sign an online petition to tell the Governor and General Assembly not to raise taxes or accept stimulus funds with strings attached,” said Boyle. “But rather to pass a budget which allows Ohio to live within its means.”

Congressman Jim Jordan, of Ohio’s 4th Congressional District, will also take part in the event. Congressman Jordan has worked with AFP in the past, most notably in 2008 on the “Freedom from Foreign Oil Scorecard,” and has been a tireless advocate for free market principles during his time in Congress. He is also a signatory to AFP's No Climate Tax Pledge, which says that he will oppose any bill relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.
