(Sacramento) After speaking to a rally of 15,000 angry Taxpayers over the weekend, Americans for Prosperity, California --- the Taxpayer group widely known for touring the State with its trademark giant inflatable ATM Machine --- today announced the kickoff of a new “Taxpayer Revolt” in the aftermath of a massive $45 Billion Tax increase in California.
“The Legislature has underestimated Taxpayers’ tolerance for Tax increases,” said Peter Foy, Statewide Chairman of AFP California. “Families are hurting, businesses are closing, yet the leadership in Sacramento is completely out-of-touch with the People. We are taking to the streets with a ‘Taxpayer Revolt’ to join taxpayers in sending a message that Californians cannot bear the burden of further Tax increases.”
The Statewide tour will include visits to offices of Elected Officials who recently voted to increase Taxes by a whopping $45 Billion. AFP California will travel with its trademark giant inflatable ATM Machine and will also participate in demonstrations against officials who raised Taxes.
AFP California was joined today by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, the Kern County Taxpayers Association, and leaders from around the State who announced their opposition to Proposition 1A, the so-called spending cap which will raise Taxes on California for multiple years.
Today’s announcement was made from the office of Senator George Runner, who has been ousted from his office space in the Capitol by new Senate Leader Darrell Steinberg, seen by many as punishment for Senator Runner’s recent “no” vote on the Tax increase.
