Americans for Prosperity Commends State House of Representatives for Passing Resolution Opposing Unions’ "Card-Check"
OKLAHOMA CITY– Americans for Prosperity-Oklahoma commends the Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives Chris Benge for his leadership in passing Senate Concurrent Resolution 8, a joint resolution opposing the Employee Free Choice Act, also known as "card check,” which would take away a worker’s right to a secret ballot in union-organizing elections. The resolution was passed unanimously in now the House and the Senate.
In regards to the approval of Senate Concurrent Resolution 8, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-Oklahoma Stuart Jolly released the following statement:
"This resolution sends a message to lawmakers in Congress that Oklahoma does not want to give more power to the unions. We simply can’t allow this regulatory nightmare to become a reality.
Unions were established to protect worker’s rights and offer them representation. However, representation without private ballots is nothing more than the use of coercion by labor special interests on the American worker. This Employee "No" Choice Act legislation is nothing more than an attempt by labor interests to consolidate power in response to a radical decline in union membership.
We stand proudly by Georgia, Michigan, Mississippi and the several other states that have passed resolutions opposing the Employee Free Choice Act. Our members will continue to contact both Oklahoma and National lawmakers and urge them to vote ‘no’ despite union pressure.”
