Changing the Nation, One State at a Time
Last year Americans had an amazing policy victory--Congress ended a 26-year long ban on offshore oil and gas production. Now President Obama and Interior Secretary Salazar are trying to secretly overturn that policy by putting in a new ban on offshore drilling through regulations at an agency called the Minerals Management Service (MMS).
Join Americans for Prosperity this Monday at 11:30am at the Atlantic City Convention Center for this opportunity to expose what the Obama administration is trying to do and make clear to Congress and the MMS that the American people still demand access to our own energy resources. If there is one thing that we’ve learned over the past year it’s that government bureaucrats need to allow for the exploration of all our natural resources to create jobs and protect us from gas prices skyrocketing to over $4 per gallon again.

Monday’s hearing in Atlantic City by the Department of Interior’s MMS, will be 1 of only 4 hearing across the U.S. where they will be seeking public opinion. These hearings are held only once every five years and decide if the government will allow oil and gas leasing offshore.
A study conducted by ICF International and recently released by the American Petroleum Institute (API) finds that responsibly developing America’s abundant but currently off-limits domestic energy supplies in ANWR and on the outer continental shelf (OCS) would create 160,000 new jobs, generate $1.7 trillion for local, state and federal tax revenue, and provide a major shot in the arm to a flagging national economy.
Right now, more than ever, we need to speak up and make sure that the Obama Administration is allowing American free enterprise do everything it can to pull us out of these tough economic times.
If you would like to attend the press conference at 11:45 or register to testify during the public hearings please email me at ccampbell@afphq.org or call 201-487-8844.
