Oregonians Flock to AFP Taxpayer Tea Parties Across the State

Thousands descend on State Capitol

ENTERPRISE - Across Oregon today, people joined AFP Taxpayer Tea Parties to vent frustrations over state and federal governments they believe are taxing too much, spending too much and borrowing too much. With the federal government proposing to run its largest annual deficit in American history - a one-year deficit almost as large as the entire federal budget just 10 years ago - concerns have been raised that the debt will grow so much in coming years that future generations will have no chance to get out of the red.

Early Taxpayer Tea Parties were a huge success, with attendance figures that surprised and in some cases overwhelmed AFP organizer's ability to keep up. In this small community in the Northeast corner of Oregon, more than 100 people turned out in frigid, windy conditions to march around the Wallowa County Courthouse and rally for smaller government.
