Alexandria, Ashland, Vinton, and Norton have joined the ranks of the localities in Virginia that are seeking to either increase their cigarette taxes or institute one.

Alexandria is looking to increase theirs from $0.70/pack to $0.80/pack and Norton is looking to increase theirs from $0.15 to $0.20/pack. Ashland and Vinton are looking to institute a cigarette tax at $0.25 and $0.30 a pack, respectively.

AFP-VA will be taking a stand against these taxes and urges those of you who live in these localities and others to take a stand against this intrusion. Call your local city and town councils and boards of supervisors and let them know that you will not stand for this.
