Pennsylvania Citizens use www.TellSpecterNO.com to Voice Opposition to Cap-and-Trade, Card Check, and Government-Controlled Health Care


Americans for Prosperity website allows citizens to keep up the pressure on Sen. Specter in key legislative battles

PHILADELPHIA─ As Republicans and Democrats fight for Senator Arlen Specter’s determining vote on key legislative issues being discussed in Congress right now, Americans for Prosperity is launching www.TellSpecterNO.com-- a website that allows Pennsylvanians to send a letter to Specter opposing tax-hiking and job-killing legislation like cap and trade, card check, and government-controlled health care.

“Senator Specter remains one member in Washington who must hear from his constituents,” said President of Americans for Prosperity Tim Phillips. “His position on key issues will determine if Congress defends the American people, or sells out to special interests.”

Cap and trade, card check, and health care legislation are all being debated in Congress right now. What were hopes of swift passage were stalled by a swell of intense grassroots pressure and the inability to reach consensus.

Americans for Prosperity brought its National Hot Air Balloon Tour to Erie and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania last month, urging citizens to submit comments to Sen. Specter opposing the nation’s largest energy tax hidden in cap and trade legislation.

The Los Angeles Times named AFP a leading player in opposition to card check because of its Save My Ballot Tour, which traveled to Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philadelphia to oppose the Employee Free Choice Act and send a strong message to Sen. Specter that Pennsylvania workers—not union bosses-- should be able to decide for themselves whether or not they want to unionize.
