Concerned Virginians educate themselves on the dangers of a government takeover of the Healthcare system
RICHMOND—Patients United Now & Americans for Prosperity (AFP) came together Saturday with guest speakers including Kay Cole James, Tito Munoz (“Tito the Builder”), Delegate Ben Cline, Delegate Brenda Pogge, and Delegate John O’Bannon to give citizens the opportunity to attend a breakfast and learn more about the threat posed by government takeover of health care. The town hall meeting brought 400 of the organizations’ activists together to expose the government’s plan to launch a European-style health care system and to discuss free market alternatives.
“The fact that over 400 citizen activists showed up to learn about the dangers of Canadian style healthcare shows the deep concern among Virginians about the liberal push towards socialized healthcare,” said AFP-VA State Director Ben Marchi. “People who want to get involved should log onto our website at www.patientsunitednow.com to join the fight.”
The town hall-style meeting continued AFP’s role as the leading grassroots organization fighting for free market solutions, lower taxes and smaller government. Patients United Now is fighting against the extreme proposals for health care that are being made by power brokers in Washington, big government advocates and insurance companies who are cutting patients out of the equation. Involving citizens, state officials, and figures such as Tito the Builder, allowed the interests of the people to be discussed from various perspectives.
The Obama Administration’s plan for America’s health care system is neither financially feasible nor plausible in a country as diverse as America. Socialized medicine risks putting government bureaucrats between patients and their doctors, limiting health care options, and rationing care. Americans for Prosperity supports the plans to reform health care which will put patients and their needs ahead of ambitions of Washington insiders. AFP has launched Patients United Now as a way to connect with individuals who are concerned about their health care future.
