July 4 Tea Parties Across Kansas

This July 4th, millions of activists across the country will celebrate their freedoms at Independence Day Tea Parties nationwide. In Kansas, AFP is hosting a tea party in Wichita, but there are numerous other events taking place around the state. Take a look at this list to locate a tea party near you!

Burlington:
11am to 1pm at the southwest corner of North 4th Street (Hwy 75) and Juniatta Street. This event has been organized by a number of Coffey County residents, and will be an informal meet-and-greet picnic with hotdogs, chips and lemonade provided. No formal speeches are planned, but the public is invited to share ideas and concerns about government spending, taxes and excessive regulation. Chanute:
4pm to 8pm at the Gazebo Park just east of the junction of Highway 39 and Lincoln. Contact: Patricia Houser, pahouser@ymail.com.

Dodge City:
10am at Wright Park Twin Towers

Emporia:
10am at 6th and Merchant, in the White Memorial Park downtown. Kris Kobach and Shari Weber will be speakers, as well as members of "Kansas for Constitutional Integrity." You are asked to bring American flags and homemade signs. Contact: Barb Nichols, 620-343-3289.

Garden City:
4pm to 7pm in the Western State Bank parking lot, 1500 East Kansas Avenue. Organizers are inviting people from all over southwest Kansas as well as Oklahoma and Colorado. Contact: Debbie Jordan, 620-271-3737 or Alicia Adams, 620-355-9779.

Independence:
12pm across the street from City Hall at the gazebo, 120 N. 6th Street. Contact Jim Mullins for details, jmullins@afphq.org.

Kansas City Metro:
9am to 10am along Stateline Road, between 125th and 135th streets. Bring your American flags to wave along Stateline Road. Contact: kansascityteaparty@gmail.com.

Manhattan:
12pm at City Park, in the corner near 14th and Poyntz. Free hotdogs will be provided, and speakers will begin at 1pm. AFP-Kansas state director Derrick Sontag is included in the line-up of speakers; the event includes planting the Manhattan Liberty Tree in City Park.

Ottawa:
4pm to 7pm at the gazebo in City Park

Salina:

Wichita:
