Patrick Werner Biography

Patrick J. Werner is a concerned citizen, Missouri native and Americans for Prosperity’s newest Missouri State Director.

Patrick grew up in south St. Louis County and attended Chaminade College Preparatory High School. After obtaining his BS in International Relations from Quincy University, he returned to St. Louis to pursue a career in public service. Patrick later received his MA in International Relations from Webster University.

Upon graduating from Quincy University, Patrick worked for the St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners. Patrick was then offered a position with U.S. Senator Kit Bond. Among his duties working for Senator Bond, Patrick served as a liaison between twelve northeast Missouri counties and the Senate office. During that time, Patrick became an advocate for constituents; taking their concerns back to Washington and diligently working to make sure that the policies developed in Congress positively benefited the citizens of Missouri.

Patrick also worked as Political Director for the 1996 Dole/Kemp Presidential team and Senator Bond’s 1998 reelection campaign. Patrick later served as Senator Bond’s District Director for eastern Missouri for two years until he took a position as Political Director for Congressman Jim Talent’s campaign for Governor. Following the Talent campaign, Patrick went to work as U. S. Congressman Todd Akin’s District Director for the 2nd Congressional District.

Patrick’s career serving the citizens of Missouri has allowed him to work closely on state and federal issues with local organizations such as chambers of commerce, county and municipal governments, civic groups, not-for-profit organizations and with various community lead efforts. With over 15 years of experience, he has developed significant expertise working with grassroots efforts focused on educating the public on important issues affecting the citizens of Missouri.

In addition to Patrick’s career, he is a dedicated community servant and family man. Patrick is past President of the St. Louis Area Young Republicans and was awarded the “Young Republican Man of the Year” from the Missouri Young Republicans. He also served four years on the KSDK Channel 5 Community Advisory Board. In 2001, Patrick was selected as one of the “40 Under 40” leaders for the region by the St. Charles County Business Journal. When Patrick is not working on political campaigns, he fills is spare time with his wife Megan by rehabbing their turn of the century historic home in Lafayette Square. Patrick and Megan are the proud parents of two girls, Chaney Luna and Keaton Finley Werner.
