There has been a whopping 20% increase in year over year spending. After $700 billion in TARP bailouts, $787 billion in "Stimulus", and the debt we have to service on those programs, it is no wonder we got to where we are so quickly.

The big question is how we get ourselves out. President Obama and Congress' answer to getting out of the hole is to keep digging. More government spending and more trillion dollar programs like health care "reform" and Cap and Trade are their answer. Fortunately, the public has a different view. In recent national polls, concerns over the size of government and deficits are growing. Today, more people would rather pay down the national debt, than stimulate the economy.

During this recession, the last thing we need is more taxes. With Congress now proposing taxes on private health plans to pay for their "public option" and the hidden taxes in Cap and Trade, AFP-Maryland suspects that $1 Trillion deficits and higher taxes will be commonplace for years to come.
