As AFP begins State-wide effort to Protect Health Care Rights, Poll Shows NC Voters Skeptical Of Government Health Care Takeover

-Patients First Tour aimed at stopping Massive Government Takeover of Nation’s Health Care-

As Americans for Prosperity prepares for a massive statewide tour focusing on patient centered free market health care, it appears President Obama and the liberals in Congress are struggling to win support from North Carolina voters for a public health care plan. The Obama Administration’s call for massively higher taxes to pay for universal health care coverage is not favored by voters in North Carolina.

According to a new poll released by the John William Pope Civitas Institute in Raleigh, 61 percent of voters indicated that keeping cost affordable is their highest priority in any health care reform proposal. Eighteen percent indicated that maintaining a high quality system was most important to their health care concerns, while only 16 percent said universal coverage.

The release of the poll comes at the same time Americans for Prosperity will begin a month long tour of North Carolina educating voters on the aspects of government controlled health care.

“Over the course of the next few weeks, we at Americans for Prosperity will be traveling all across North Carolina rallying people to tell Congress that we oppose any legislation that imposes greater government control over our health care and results in fewer choices for our families,” said Americans for Prosperity North Carolina State Director Dallas Woodhouse. “Congress must not let government get between my family and my doctor. We need to push to protect patient freedom and expand health care options with real reforms – focused on patients, not on politics.”

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory will join Americans for Prosperity’s Patients First Tour to discuss the harmful government-centered health care reform proposals being debated in Congress right now, and demand free market solutions to our health care needs that will protect patients’ rights

Activists can sign the Hands Off My Health Care online petition, www.joinpatientsfirst.com, which urges lawmakers to oppose any legislation that imposes greater government control over health care and results in less choice for patients.

The tour will kick off Tuesday, July 21st at the RBC Center in Raleigh and continue on July 22nd at the Jesse Helms Center. A reception and light dinner will be held both nights at the cost of $15. Future tour dates will be announced soon and will include stops all across North Carolina.
