AFP-VA Launches McDonnell Jobs Creation Watchdog Site

This week, the Virginia Chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP-VA) officially released a website, titled McDonnell Job Watch, for the purpose of tracking and posting all information, good or bad, related to Governor Bob McDonnell’s promise to bring new jobs to Virginia.

“This site will allow citizens to educate themselves about job growth in the Commonwealth and keep track of Governors McDonnell’s progress towards fulfilling his campaign promise to create tens of thousands of new jobs over the course of his four years in office,” said Ben Marchi, Virginia state director of Americans for Prosperity. He continued, “We believe this administration is committed to fighting for economic prosperity for all Virginians. We hope that this website will allow our members to keep the McDonnell administration on their toes when it comes to job creation.”

The website pulls its official "jobs created" count from numbers released weekly by the Governor's office and vetted by the Office of Lt. Governor Bill Bolling, who holds the post of Chief Jobs Creation Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia. These are jobs that are newly created with direct involvement by the McDonnell administration, through both economic development agreements and Virginia Economic Development Partnership assistance.

The site is set up so that citizen-activists can subscribe to article updates, contact the administration concerning jobs creation, and also allows visitors to the website to sign up for AFP-VA updates on free-market issues and to learn more about future projects. More information can be found here.
