Patients First Health Care Summit a success

The Join Patients First health care tour landed in Salisbury, MD on Thursday evening. A crowd of about 200 packed Caruthers Hall on the campus of Salisbury University to send Congress a message that government-run health care is not an option.

The panel, which included experts from the medical, policy and business communities, expounded on why recent proposals floating through Congress could damage the country. On the minds of most during the question and answer portion of the event, was the cost of such proposals.

One of the highlights was local businessman and panelist, Dick Carey of Carey Distributors. He stole the show with his honest explanation of how the cost of government-run health care would force him to cut costs and possibly layoff workers. During a recession, the last thing we need is small businesses like Dick's laying off more employees. To watch a quick clip of Dick's speech, click here.
