TOPEKA—The Kansas chapter of the grassroots free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-KS) today applauded several No Climate Tax pledge signers for their primary victories and for advancing to the November general election.

More than 600 bipartisan lawmakers and candidates on the federal, state and local levels have pledged to “oppose legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.”

“The one thing elected officials should all agree on is that global warming shouldn’t be used as an excuse to hike taxes,” said AFP-KS State Director Derrick Sontag. “We encourage all Kansas elected officials and candidates for office to sign the pledge.”

The following No Climate Tax pledge signers will be on the November ballot:

  • Gubernatorial nominee Sam Brownback
  • U.S. Senate nominee Jerry Moran
  • U.S. Representative Lynn Jenkins (2nd District)
  • U.S. House nominee Tim Huelskamp (1st District)
  • U.S. House nominee Mike Pompeo (4th District)
  • Kansas signers also include Five State Senators and Fifteen State Representatives

A full list of signers and the pledge are available online at www.NoClimateTax.com. AFP does not endorse candidates. All elected officials and candidates are encouraged to sign the pledge and go on the record in opposition to using the climate change issue to increase taxes and grow the size of government.
