Nebraskans Rally Against Government Run Health Care

The last few days have seen thousands upon thousands of Nebraskans wait in line to fill gyms, classrooms and auditoriums to sit in on town halls forums across the state to tell Senator Ben Nelson we oppose government-run health care.

Health care reform is important, there are in deed millions of Americans who cannot afford adequate coverage. But what Senator Nelson is hearing from Nebraskans is that the solution is not more government involvement.

Over 600 people joined us for a rally in Omaha to oppose Government-run health care

Nebraskans are telling Senator Nelson to take a serious look at solutions to lower the cost of health care, rather than putting the same politicians who have racked up a $12 Trillion national debt in charge of our health care.

A physician at a Lincoln town hall asked Senator Nelson why he was not pressing for tort reform? Former State Senator Ernie Chambers sued God for compensation for natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina in federal court to prove a point; anyone can bring a lawsuit on any subject, no matter how frivolous.

Congressman Lee Terry and Omaha-area physicians explain the problems with Washington’s health care plan

A Union Pacific worker, and union member, in North Platte wanted to know why he could not purchase cheaper generic drugs from Canada. A small-business owner in Seward wanted to know why insurance companies cannot compete across state lines, which would drive down the cost of insurance.

Nebraskans want health care reform. Nebraskans want smart reform; reform that will lower costs and provide better access. What we have heard from Nebraskans and health experts across the state is that there alternatives to a government-run plan do exist.

We are counting on you to take this message of health care reform without the government option directly to Senator Nelson and our federal delegation! You can reach Senator Nelson at his Washington office (202) 224-6551 or email senator@bennelson.senate.gov
