AFP State Chairman Peter Foy Addresses Tea Party Event in Sacramento

Sacramento – Peter Foy spoke to a crowd of several thousand gathered at the state capitol for a Tea Party event hosted by Tea Party Patriots and Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association. Foy reminded the crowd that some members of Congress, such as Nancy Pelosi, had referred to activists who protest at events such as these as “Astroturf” and “paid operatives.” “You don’t look like Astroturf to me,” said Foy.

“I see hardworking men and women, trying to provide for their families as best as they can in an increasingly difficult environment due to government overregulation. Government is attempting to intrude into every facet of our lives, and we can’t let that happen. We must take advantage of every opportunity we have to make our voices heard. It is your responsibility to be aware of what your government is doing and do your part to speak up when our freedoms and way of life are threatened.”

Foy went on to thank Mark Meckler of the Tea Party Patriots for organizing an event which provided the opportunity for thousands of frustrated taxpayers to stand on the steps of the Capitol in Sacramento and peacefully demonstrate against government overregulation and taxes.
