November is Coming to Arizona!

Thanks to everyone who joined us last week on the Arizona leg of our November is Coming bus tour! We made stops in Sierra Vista, Tucson, Scottsdale, and Prescott and explained to activists how our citizen education campaign will make 2010 a winning year for fiscal conservatism. In the course of its November is Coming project, Americans for Prosperity is going to be firing a lot of heavy artillery. We are already doing a lot of television and radio advertising. But even with the heavy artillery in place, we need YOU to be the infantry on the ground, making crucial one-on-one contacts with your neighbors and fellow citizens.

As you know, there is too much at stake right now:

• You understand the danger, to our nation’s economy and to our personal liberties, of the federal government’s health care takeover. When the ObamaCare bureaucrats in Washington start working in earnest on “bending the cost curve,” they will begin rationing health care: they will tell us which health care services we can and cannot have, and which doctors we can and cannot see.

• You know that “cap and trade” is really “cap and tax,” and would result in a job-killing $846 billion in taxes in its first decade.

• You also know that the so-called “Stimulus” bill has failed to stimulate anything, except high salaries for a few government employees and contractors. And if you are part of the ten to twenty percent of the population that is unemployed, you don’t feel very stimulated by $862 billion in wasted taxpayer money. Thanks in large part to the “Stimulus,” America’s long-running debt problems have gotten much worse in the last year and a half. Some economists predict that our national debt will be larger than the entire gross domestic product of the US economy by 2012.

As Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, “all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves.” What Jefferson meant is that we as Americans are willing to tolerate a lot of bad government before we finally get off the couch and take action. But for better or worse, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, and their radical progressive agenda have brought this country to a tipping point.

Our November is Coming citizen education campaign is designed to make sure that your neighbors get the important information they need to make informed decisions about the future of this country. After an election, they tend to ease off and forget about politics for a while. And that is understandable: they have families and jobs to look after. But that means we have a narrow window of opportunity for citizen education. We have to get the message to your neighbors while they’re engaged and interested, and inform them about the health care takeover, the massive spending crisis, and the other big issues facing this country.

We know that many of you are already very active. But we need you to go the extra mile with us between now and November. Please join us.

Five Easy Steps You Can Take TODAY

1) First, if you have not done so already, please sign the petition at www.NovemberIsComing.com.

2) Second, please recruit more people to the November is Coming effort. Please forward this link to your friends and to your motivated conservative neighbors. Or, send them directly to NovemberIsComing.com with a personal email.

3) Third, when you go to NovemberIsComing.com, please sign up to become neighborhood leaders. We need people who are committed to organizing their neighborhoods. We will give you walking lists and help you to reach out in your neighborhood to fiscal conservatives of all political persuasions.

4) Fourth, when you go to NovemberIsComing.com, please sign up to do at-home phonebanking. Thanks to new technology, you don’t have to leave your home to reach out to hundreds of your neighbors. We will get you set up at a very easy-to-use website, and give you lists of citizens who need to be contacted.

5) Fifth and finally, when you go to NovemberIsComing.com, please sign up to distribute doorhangers in September and October. At our November Is Coming bus stops here in Arizona, we gave out sample doorhangers, some of which have already been distributed in local neighborhoods. But we will have more soon, and we need to get them out to your neighbors.
