News editors reveal their bias

The news media isn’t necessarily interested in giving conservatives space on their newspaper pages or nightly news spots.

Surprised? Didn’t think so.

Just take a look at these responses AFP received from newspaper editors here in Texas when we sent them Peggy’s op-ed on Obama’s address to America’s school children.

The first response is from Randy Reese, the editor at the Diboll Free Press:

“You are a true and certifiable idiot for your views. Your hate mongering and one-sided views will keep this country fighting amongst its people for a long time. Why don’t you leave the president alone for a change. Let the children be excited to hear him speak, not afraid of what he might ‘brainwash’ them to do. I dare say that if your man Bush had done the same thing, you would have made it sound like a grand idea. Please halt this propaganda and stop e-mailing this trash to me.”

The second response came from Will Atkins, editor and publisher of the Oak Hill Gazette in southwest Austin:

“We do not publish op-eds from political groups, especially those with ties to big oil and wacko fringe ‘tea party’ groups. We will not be a conduit for the spread of misinformation and paranoia.”

When AFP sent an e-mail pointing out the fact that the Gazette has published political op-eds in the past, Atkins responded by sending “proof” of his accusations against AFP from a Wikipedia-styled left-wing website called Sourcewatch.org, and threatening to send the AFP email address to Obama’s “misinformation watch list.”
