AFP, Tea Parties -- America agrees with us...

I highly recommend an op-ed from today's Wall Street Journal by Democratic pollster Douglas Schoen who rolled out new polling data that shows overwhelming support for curbing public workers' benefits.

-Voters clearly want state budget cuts rather than state tax increases

-Voters want significant changes with state public employees including their pensions, retirement age, benefits, and salaries

-A majority (56%) supports reducing certain state services to address state budget crises if programs need to be cut

-Voters don't like collective bargaining, but haven't made the connection why collective bargaining has led to the current public employees compensation.

-On other measures that restrict current public employee rights and benefits,

-Voters say that tenure for teachers should be phased out, 56% to 39%.

-Fundamental reform of public sector pension plans is strongly favored.

-Voters support "moving all new public employees from a defined benefit plan to a defined contribution plan" by 69% to 17%.
