Do Not Be Discouraged

Do not let this weekend’s vote in the House discourage you; our grassroots efforts have been successful!

While it would have been fantastic had the House of Representatives defeated the government-run health care bill, and the billions of dollars in new taxes that come along with it, do not be discouraged by an extremely narrow 220-215 vote.

With a Democrat majority of 258 to 177 Republicans in the House, the votes should have been overwhelming in Speaker Pelosi’s favor to pass her number one legislative priority. Instead, it took a late night session-- over the weekend-- to barely muster enough votes for this government takeover.

AFP-Nebraska is grateful that all three of our U.S. Congressmen; Jeff Fortenberry, Adrian Smith and Lee Terry voted for Nebraskans and against a federal government takeover of our health care.

We Nebraskans have always known the real work is in the United States Senate, and in particular reaching Senator Ben Nelson with the message that government-run health care is bad for Nebraska, bad for the economy and bad for patients.

Sen. Nelson’s office can be reached by emailing senator@bennelson.senate.gov or calling:
