TOPEKA – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity-Kansas today announced its merger with the Kansas Taxpayer Network (KTN). The two groups decided to combine following KTN director Karl Peterjohn’s election to the Sedgwick County Commission.
“For years, the Kansas Taxpayer Network has worked side-by-side with Americans for Prosperity on numerous fiscal issues,” said Peterjohn. “With our mission and goals being so similar, it only makes sense that our organizations should join at this time.”
AFP-Kansas will notify current members of the Kansas Taxpayer Network of the change, and will encourage them to remain as members of Americans for Prosperity.
“Karl has led the Kansas Taxpayer Network for 15 years, and we appreciate all his work on tax policy in this state,” said AFP-Kansas state director Alan Cobb. “We look forward to welcoming into the Kansas Chapter of Americans for Prosperity the membership that Karl has built.
“Going into the 2009 Legislative session, we certainly appreciate the additional support as several tax increases have already been discussed by elected officials.”
