Statement of AFP Policy Director Phil Kerpen:
"The Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy got it exactly right in their comments filed today regarding the EPA's proposed greenhouse gas regulations. The Office of Advocacy correctly pointed out that the EPA improperly certified that their proposed rules would have no impact on small businesses without convening panels to consider the small business impacts. Advocacy reports that at least 1,200 small businesses will immediately be subject to costly direct regulation, with an average cost per permit of up to $84,530. Every small business, directly regulated or not, will also be hit with skyrocketing energy prices as a result of the EPA's proposed regulations. We therefore commend the Office of Advocacy for its filing and strongly agree with its recommendations that all EPA greenhouse gas regulations be put on hold until the small business impacts can be considered."
