Internet Regulation: Federal Communications Commission
Like other parts of his agenda, when President Obama’s Internet regulations failed through the democratic process he turned to an executive agency to implement them through the backdoor. The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski, one of Obama’s close friends, has visited the White House at least 78 times, is trying to implement strict “net neutrality” restrictions on the Internet without a vote of Congress. Genachowski hired his press secretary, Jen Howard, directly from the Marxist group Free Press, where she was communications director.
The FCC started a rulemaking process for net neutrality in Fall 2009. Their jurisdiction to proceed in this way, however, was challenged in court.
