Honorable Jeff Kropf

State Director - Oregon

Former Representative Jeff Kropf represented Oregon House District 17 for eight years, serving the people of Linn and Marion counties. House District 17 includes the cities of Sweet Home, Lebanon, Scio, Stayton, Sublimity and the cities of the Santiam Canyon.

He was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 1998 and served 4 terms until retiring in January of 2007.

He was appointed to the Legislative Emergency Board for the 2005-2006 interim and was a member of the full Ways and Means Committee, the General Government and Natural Resources Ways and Means Sub-Committees for the 2005 legislative session. He is the former Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee for two legislative sessions and served two sessions on the Transportation and Ways and Means subcommittees.

Nationally, he served as the Chairman of the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) Agriculture and Rural Development committee. He also served on the NCSL Homeland Security Task Force.

After retiring from the Oregon House, he joined the government relations firm of Ted Hughes and Associates in Salem Oregon. He is the Executive Director of the Northwest Renewable Fuels Association based in Salem and is also the state Director of the Oregon Chapter of Americans for Prosperity.

He is married to Peggy Sue; they have a 29year old son Cris and own a farm north of Sublimity. He is a fifth generation Oregon farmer from the Halsey/Harrisburg area, has owned several small businesses and currently involved in real estate development.

He hosted a Saturday and Sunday morning radio talk show, “Weekend Edition Live with Jeff Kropf” on KXL 750 AM in Portland Oregon for two years and often fills in for Lars Larson on his daily show at KXL. He is now hosting a week day radio talk show during early morning drive time on a sister station, 1360 KUIK in Hillsboro Oregon from 6am and 9am.

As Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, he participated in the formulation and passage of the 2002 Federal Farm Bill including provisions beneficial to Oregon’s specialty crops and rural communities.

Jeff has received numerous awards from conservative business and government watchdog organizations and is a founding member of the New Budget Coalition. He is a passionate advocate for common sense government budget reform and speaks regularly to various organizations around Oregon on this subject.
