MILWAUKEE – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) announced today it will hold its Wisconsin Defending the American Dream Summit on Saturday, February 9th.

The summit will be held at Country Springs Hotel and Resort, in Pewaukee, just nine days before the presidential primary election, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The Wisconsin Summit aims to build on the grassroots momentum generated by the group’s national Defending the American Dream Summit, held in Washington in October, which featured every major Republican presidential candidate speaking to more than 1,600 attendees from across the nation. “2008 is going to be a pivotal year for Wisconsin, and for America,” said Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s Wisconsin State Director, Mark Block. “Everywhere you look, the American Dream is under assault, and the decisions that our elected officials make this year will help determine whether we get higher taxes and more wasteful government spending, or a healthier economy brought about by lower taxes and free-market policies. That’s what is at stake this year, and that’s why it’s so important for grassroots taxpayers to make their voices heard at our Summit on February 9th.”
