New Hampshire is “Already Taxed to the Max,” Says Citizen Group

WINDHAM – The national free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will announce the launch of its New Hampshire state chapter at a news conference at the State Capitol on Tuesday, July 1st at 10:30 a.m. The chapter’s first initiative will be a grassroots campaign aimed at building membership and mobilizing citizens against proposed tax hikes. Long-time local political activist Corey Lewandowski will serve as the group’s New Hampshire Director.

“At a time when the cost of consumer goods and gasoline are at all-time highs, New Hampshire citizens have this year’s property taxes coming due. It was then-Governor Shaheen in 1999 who enacted the statewide property tax, and taxpayers continue to be on the hook for the tax hike today,” said Lewandowski. “We’re drawing a line in the sand against more tax hikes. Increased taxes will hurt New Hampshire’s economy and will result in fewer jobs and even higher prices.”

The news conference will feature citizen activists and a huge, 16-foot-tall inflatable ATM machine to drive the point home that citizens are "Already Taxed to the Max," and lawmakers cannot treat taxpayers as their ATM machine whenever they run out of cash.

The establishment of a state chapter in New Hampshire marks the 22nd for AFP in just over four years of existence.
