COLUMBIA, SC – The national free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today launched its South Carolina state chapter – its 15th nationally -- and named former Lt. Governor candidate Mike Campbell its South Carolina State Director.

“As somebody who was born and raised in the great State of South Carolina, it is a personal honor for me to help launch Americans for Prosperity’s new state chapter today,” said Americans for Prosperity’s President, Tim Phillips, a native of Lyman. “Mike Campbell is a solid business leader who is committed to lowering taxes, reining in government spending and bringing free-market reforms to education and health care. We’re going to work together to help South Carolina’s hard-working taxpayers make their power felt in Columbia.”

In just over two years of existence, Americans for Prosperity has already chalked up a number of major victories on the state level, such as helping defeat proposed tax hikes in Kansas and Oklahoma, limiting taxpayer-funded lobbying in Texas and becoming the national grassroots leader in promoting state constitutional tax-and-spending limits from coast to coast. Americans for Prosperity’s South Carolina chapter has also set an ambitious agenda, which includes scheduling grassroots training seminars, signing up citizen activists and highlighting wasteful government spending.
