WASHINGTON – Tim Phillips, President of the national free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity, today released the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate’s adoption of an amendment to kill a $1 million earmark for the Museum at Bethel Woods, also known as the Hippie Museum.

The Museum earmark is backed by a top billionaire donor to U.S. Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer, and was first questioned by Americans for Prosperity in July.

“This taxpayer victory is far out, man. If there’s one thing a top billionaire donor to Senators Clinton and Schumer doesn’t need, it’s a million-dollar check from the hard-working taxpayers of America.

“America’s taxpayers thank Senator Kyl and especially Senator Coburn for their leadership and their courage on this issue.”
