It's difficult to deny that many of the gains made by unions in the past several decades have been important protections of the individual's workplace rights. Everything from worker pay, workplace safety, benefits and hours worked have improved dramatically from the days before collective bargaining agreements. The rise of the middle class was accomplished through the collective hard work of our parents and grandparents, many of whom were represented by a union.

LANSING — The Michigan chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP-MI), a grassroots free-market organization, is circulating a questionnaire to candidates running for State House. The group will be compiling a comprehensive guidebook to educate its more than 10,000 members on candidates' positions. The questionnaire will cover issues including: the appropriate size and scope of government, taxes on businesses, transparency in government, Right to Work laws, regulations that would increase the price of energy, and property assessments.

AFP Michigan activists protested a proposed $35 billion federal pork barrel project at the capitol in Lansing. The group was accompanied by ten flying pigs. They drove home the fact that, although pork may fly, the earmark process must be grounded.
