Today former Speaker of the U.S. House Newt Gingrich became the eighth presidential candidate to sign “My Pledge to the American People,” which was authored by Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire’s Honorary Chairman, Tom Thomson.

By signing the pledge, Gingrich joins Governor Mitt Romney, Senator Rick Santorum, Governor Buddy Roemer, Chris Hill, Congressman Ron Paul, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Governor Rick Perry in pledging to commit to cutting taxes, fees and regulations; cutting spending and reducing the national debt; cutting the size of government at all levels; securing the nation’s borders; becoming energy independent within eight years; and faithfully and forcefully upholding, following and protecting the United States Constitution.

Tom has invited all the presidential candidates to sign his pledge.

A crowd of nearly 200 people came out to Saint Anselm College on Oct. 13 for a discussion on the current fiscal crisis as well as the electoral system and New Hampshire's status as "first in the nation."

The event took place at the N.H. Institute of Politics. Six panelists facilitated the conversation which came before appearances from presidential candidates Buddy Roemer, Fred Karger and Jon Huntsman.

One of those panelists was Corey Lewandowski, who serves as the N.H. State Director of Americans for Prosperity. He criticized what he called the "increasing notion" that a candidate's money is respected more than a candidate's ideas during election time.
Lewandowski also discussed the potentially disastrous problems that Washington is facing.
