On May 24th, Debbie Spaugh with AFP-SC spoke during a press conference in the State House. The subject was the State Budget for 2011-2012. Obviously many of our state Legislators did not get the message from the voters in 2010 to STOP THE WASTEFUL SPENDING! Last year's state budget of $21.1 billion was the largest in SC history. At that time, SC state and local government was spending $.26 of every dollar earned by South Carolinians. This was the 5th highest amount in the nation.

The federal government needs to stop spending like there's no tomorrow. That's the message the Spending Revolt National Bus Tour will bring to Columbia and Rock Hill South Carolina. The Columbia town hall style event will be September 25th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM, on the State House grounds, North side, 1101 Gervais St. Confirmed speakers include: State Senator Tom Davis; Ashley Landess, President, SC Policy Council; Don Weaver, President, SC Association of Taxpayers; and Tracy Walsh, national spokesperson for AFP's effort to stop the government takeover of health care.

As the final details of the health care bill are negotiated in secret meetings this week, people across the country are taking a step back to consider the evolution of such a bloated piece of legislation. It occurs to some that we don’t really know how Congress plans to lower our health care costs, one of the supposed reasons for this massive bill.
