TALLAHASSEE – Americans for Prosperity-Florida, the nation’s premier free market grassroots organizing group, issued the following statement in reaction to Gov. Scott’s state of the state address today.
“Florida saw many great reforms in 2011, but there is much work still to be done. While $4.5 Billion was cut from the state budget last year, Florida still faces a $2 Billion shortfall,” said State Director Slade O’Brien. “AFP-Florida supports Gov. Scott’s proposals to balance the budget and create new and desperately-needed jobs here in the
Sunshine State.”
July 31st would have been the 99th birthday of Dr. Milton Friedman - an economist and proponent of school choice policies since the 1950's. To celebrate, AFP-Florida is hosting a Friedman Legacy for Freedom Day event in Orlando, FL on July 29th. We will have a showing of "The Cartel", a documentary showing the need for real education reform, with an introduction speech by Congressman Daniel Webster.
Popcorn, pizza, soda and birthday cupcakes will be provided during the showing. After the movie, we will have a panel discussion about school choice with community leaders on the issue. Attire is casual.
Join us from 5:30PM-8:00PM in the Oak Room at the Marks Street Senior Recreation Complex, 99 East Marks Street, Orlando, FL 32803.
