– Flawed Legislation Would Cripple Economic Recovery and Destroy Personal Freedom –
WASHINGTON—The free market grassroots organization Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today released a statement regarding the discussion draft for global warming legislation released by U.S. Reps. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.). The draft legislation was released in response to big government’s capitulation in the face of massive lobbying efforts by environmental extremists and echoes Washington’s continuing futile effort to centrally plan the economy.

Stimulus money for broadband should be targeted to markets where there is no competition.
The so-called stimulus bill passed in February contains more than $7 billion to encourage broadband infrastructure development and increase demand. The stated intent is to help "unserved" and "underserved" areas in the country bridge the digital divide.

Americans for Prosperity Outraged by Rep. Waters’ Misuse of Taxpayer Dollars to Further Personal Agenda
WASHINGTON- Today, NYTimes.com reported that Representative Maxine Waters, a California Democrat, used her political influence to pressure U. S. Treasury officials to grant $50 million in bank bailout funds to OneUnited—a bank for which her husband served on the Board of Directors and owned at least $250,000 worth of stock in the institution.
