Day 1: Trip to D.C.

AFP-OK on our first day (Thursday, October 4th) visited the nation's capitol building complex and stood outside our congressman building for a conference about the earmark reform discharge petition. Along with 63 fellow Oklahoman's, and more than 1,500 others, we asked our congressman to stop pork and stop careless spending!

After the rally, the Oklahoma group headed to the Hart Senate Office Building and had a reception with U.S. Senators John McCain and Jim DeMint. Good food, great speaches and a just a whole lot of fun. As we got out the sun was going down the over the capitol building (an amazing sight!). We hopped on a bus, and many of us went touring for our first night in D.C. Seeing the monuments at night, lit up, is absoultely astonishing. With everyone inspired and a bit tired from all the walking, we went back to the hotel and called it a night.
