WASHINGTON – Nearly 100 people joined Americans for Prosperity to rally on Capitol Hill for lawmakers to DO NOTHING! That's right. NOTHING!
Delivering victory over the current Congressional ban on energy exploration is that simple. All lawmakers have to do is resist the urge to do something. That's because two weeks from now, on October 1st, 2008, the current Congressional ban on offshore drilling and Rocky Mountain oil shale recovery will expire -- all by itself.
Wednesday, September 17th, begins our 14-day countdown to American Energy Freedom Day. Now if only Congress can just stand back and do nothing!
We are also urging President Bush to veto any legislation that would extend the ban, including so-called "must pass" spending legislation to fund the federal government. U.S. Senator Jim DeMint and U.S. Representatives Jeb Hensarling, Mary Fallin, and John Shadegg have gathered enough signatures for their letter in support of American Energy Freedom Day to show a veto should be sustained.
You can join us too by taking part in our e-action campaign. Don't miss this historic opportunity to tell your lawmaker to DO NOTHING.

“Congressional leaders may think they can trick us into trading in American Energy Freedom Day for legislation that is full of schemes that will drive energy prices up even higher,” said AFP President Tim Phillips “We’re here today to say we won’t be fooled by slick political rhetoric. American families understand that higher energy taxes and more regulation are proven-failed policies that won’t deliver relief from the pain at the gas pump.”
