The grassroots free-market group Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina today announced a detailed campaign to help secure defeat of the proposed sales tax increase that is on the ballot in Lee County on May 6th. The group will work to inform voters of the already high tax burden in Lee County, and will urge citizens to reject the calls for an increase in the regressive sales tax.
"People and small businesses are already struggling in a changing economy," said Dallas Woodhouse, State Director of Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina. "This is not the time to raise taxes, this is the time for government to cut its budget like citizens do with their own family budget."
The group also announced it would host a MAYDAY-MAYDAY- Tax Distress Call to Action on Thursday, May 1st at 6:30 at the Lee County Ag Center/Ernest and Ruby McSwain Building.
