Changing the Nation, One State at a Time
While many tax increase proposals are being discussed at this point, a MASSIVE $120 million dollar plan is already on paper and the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is currently lobbying for the tax hike as we speak!
The "Quality Assessment Fee," as it is being sold by state bureaucrats, is an attempt to raise taxes on private insurance companies, rather than spend the money already allotted in the state's massive budget.
Insurance companies provide a vital product to Georgia families. Just like any other private business, higher taxes will make it more difficult to provide competitive rates to Georgians. While everyone is trimming budgets during these tough times, I think we can all agree that our family's health insurance is not a luxury. The state should make it easier to have access to quality insurance during times like these, not make it more difficult!
Governor Sonny Perdue has asked all state agencies, including DCH, to cut a very modest 6% of its budget due to the current economic situation our state faces. DCH admitted it has not identified a single cut from its budget and, instead, decided to raise taxes by over $100 million dollars!
