Keep the Pressure On!
The rally was a great success. Thanks to all who turned out! But, the fight is not over. As Steve Lonegan, AFP-NJ Executive Director, has said: Keep the Pressure on!
Read some rally reports:
Everyone in New Jersey needs to contact their legislators and tell them to vote no on the Corzine tax hikes. Call 1-866-730-0150 and ask to be put through to their office. Speak to them, if possible, or leave a message with their aide.
The following senators need extra encouragement to vote NO on the Corzine tax hikes. Let them hear from you now. Let them know they risk being defeated next election if they vote for tax hikes. To email click on the email link, then, once on the Senator's web site, click "Contact your legislator(s)."
Senator Joseph Coniglio, Democrat, District 38 - email him or call (201)-576-9199
Senator Ellen Karcher, Democrat, District 12 - email her or call (732) 462-8883. The pressure is working on Senator Karcher! She is quoted in Newsday: "They [those voting against tax hikes] may be joined by Sen. Ellen Karcher, D-Monmouth, who on Friday said she hasn't decided but was inclined to vote against it. "I'm very concerned about raising any taxes," said Karcher, who will be targeted by Republicans in next year's Senate elections. "I think people in New Jersey are taxed to the hilt." Keep the pressure on!
Senator Fred H. Madden, Democrat, District 4 - email him or call (856)-232-6700 (Turnersville) or (856)-227-5900 (Blackwood)
Senator Madden is on record (NJN, June 8, 2006) as saying he would vote against the tax hikes if the majority in his district tell him to vote No.
Senator Paul A. Sarlo, Democrat, District 36 - email him or call (201)-804-8118
Senator Stephen M. Sweeney, Democrat, District 3 - email him or call (856)-251-9801 (Thorofare), (856)-455-1011 (Bridgeton), or (856)-339-0808 (Salem). The pressure is working on Senator Sweeney. He is on record as being opposed to the tax hikes. Keep the pressure on!
Watch the June 8 NJN story that featured Steve Lonegan and Americans for Prosperity. This is a great report.
Other organizations are also working to stop the Corzine tax hikes. Here are some of them:
Americans for Tax Reform New Jersey Budget Facts of the Day - very informative.
Stop the Tax Man has an hiliarious video with Corzine singing, "I'm the tax man." You have to see this one!
Stop Spending My Money - Senator Sweeney's site that asks state employees to take some cuts to keep the 7% sales tax from passing.
