Throughout the legislative session, AFP-Kansas tracks how legislators vote on certain bills. You can see how your legislator voted on our key issues by uploading the following documents.

As the current Kansas Legislature is still wrapping up, we have not yet compiled our key vote scorecard for 2009. However, below are a number of votes we tracked in the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions. In January, we merged with the Kansas Taxpayer Network (KTN), so you can also see the 2007 KTN scorecards below.

Last week we learned that the state will again withhold tax return refunds because the state’s checking account has dried up. State Sen. Jeff Colyer and Kansas Revenue Secretary Joan Wagnon will discuss this situation at an Emergency Town Hall meeting tomorrow night in Olathe.

-Signs No Climate Tax Pledge-

TOPEKA—The Kansas chapter of the free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-KS) today applauded U.S. Senator Sam Brownback for signing the group’s “No Climate Tax Pledge.” By doing so, Brownback joins over 180 lawmakers on the federal, state and local levels pledging to “oppose legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.”
