TOPEKA – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity-Kansas today released a study on the effects of cigarette taxes on the state’s economy.

The study “Masters of Tax Avoidance: Kansans and The Cigarette Excise, 1927-2009” by Patrick Fleenor, chief economist of Fiscal Economics, Inc., outlines the history of Kansas cigarette taxes and the results on the state economy.

TOPEKA – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity-Kansas released the following statement in response to Senate passage of a budget stabilization fund.

“AFP has been advocating for the passage of a budget stabilization fund since its inception,” said AFP-Kansas state director Derrick Sontag. “It’s encouraging that our legislators see the importance of establishing a rainy day fund to help our state weather economic downturns.

Join your fellow Kansans Wednesday, April 15 at 4:15 at the Wichita Airport Post Office to help show Washington that when it comes to taking our hard-earned money to fund pork projects and ineffective programs, enough is enough! Bring your homemade signs, and come and go as you please. Food and drinks will be provided, but any small contributions to help cover the costs would be welcome.
