Lieberman Warner Climate Security Act

A recent study released by the National Association of Manufactures and the American Council for Capital Formation details the costs associated with the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act (S. 2191)

Taken from this study, below are a few examples of the impact this legislation could have on Ohio.  To view the full study, click here.

Job loss:  Ohio could lose up to 66,077 jobs in year 2020 and up to 143,037 in 2030.  Higher energy prices would lead to lower industrial productivity; something Ohio does not need.

Energy Prices:  Ohio’s consumers could face gas prices rising by 72 -141% by 2030 and electricity rates increasing by 126-177%.

Economic Growth:  This study estimates that Ohio’s gross state product could be reduced up to $7.7 billion per year by 2020 and up to $24.2 billion by 2030.

For a state that has been working increasingly hard to produce jobs and grow our economy; this reduction is unacceptable.  We need to be focused on actions that will lead us to a prosperous future.  AFP – Ohio will continue to monitor the Lieberman-Warner bill and will keep you informed on ways to get involved.
