Meet Jerry Hurckes, the Pork-Barrel King of Oak Lawn

This is Jerry Hurckes.

Mr. Hurckes is a Trustee for the Village of Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Mr. Hurckes is also Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski's state Chief of Staff.

And according to this morning's Roll Call, Mr. Hurckes has claimed political credit for securing millions of your tax dollars in the form of pork-barrel earmarks. At the same time, he's been accepting thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from "companies with business in front of Lipinski's Congressional committees," including huge companies like UPS and CSX, which rarely get involved in small-time Trustee campaigns in villages like Oak Lawn.

But the earmarking system isn't broken, mind you. And there's certainly no need for a moratorium while this kind of stuff goes on.  It's just the way Washington works. Go on about your business - there's nothing to see here.
