National spotlight on AZ Prop 101; Don't turn a panic into a Depression

28 October 2008

Dear Arizona Taxpayer:

As you can read in the latest column from George Will, Arizona’s Proposition 101 is receiving national media attention.  AFP Arizona strongly supports Prop 101, which is designed to prevent the imposition of a single-payer, government-cartel health care system.  As Will points out, the passage of Prop 101 would send a strong signal to national politicians that Americans do not want government dictating what doctors and insurance plans they must use.

Enjoy those long lines at the post office?  Wait until the government completes its takeover of health care...

Also, be sure to read the latest op-ed by AFP policy director Phil Kerpen, who warns that raising taxes, raising tariffs, and distorting American labor markets could turn a financial panic into a Depression.  Among other things, Kerpen reminds us that Herbert Hoover and Congress started the disastrous New Deal in 1932 by raising the top marginal income-tax rate from 25 to 63 percent, placing new excise taxes on products, and doubling the Death Tax.
