Event to Educate Citizens on Impact of Global Warming Policies

SPARTANBURG – The taxpayer watchdog group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will bring its nationwide hot air balloon tour to Spartanburg on Tuesday, June 17, for an event in Barnet Park. Even as record gas prices and high food costs put a squeeze on household budgets, lawmakers are pushing global warming policies that are out of touch with average Americans. The event is free and open to media and the public. Those planning to attend are encouraged to pre-register online at http://www.costofhotair.com/.

“These are uncertain economic times. It is foolhardy for lawmakers to push for regulations that would transfer dollars from families and businesses to bureaucratic big-government,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “We want to make sure citizens know what global warming alarmism will cost them – higher taxes, lost jobs, and less freedom.”

The event will feature a presentation from Phillips and other speakers about the policies being promoted in the name of “fighting” global warming and the impact of those policies on South Carolina. The event will have a strong visual component, most notably AFP’s enormous seventy-foot hot air balloon with the message: Global Warming Alarmism: Lost Jobs, Higher Taxes, Less Freedom.
