This tax harms our already-lagging economy by placing a penalty on businesses for making permanent business investments in our state. Oklahoma corporations currently pay a franchise tax simply for the “pleasure” of doing business here and are forced to pay this franchise tax on their net worth whether they were profitable for the year or not! Oklahoma already has a 6% corporate income tax, this is double taxation.
