OUTSIDE GROUP FOUNDED BY OIL MONEY ATTACKS SHAHEEN ON RADIO
Americans for Prosperity is founded by Sununu's buddies in the oil industry, attacks Shaheen with over $130,000 in false radio ads
(Manchester, NH) - Another Washington-based group is attacking former Governor and current U.S. Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen with false radio ads, and this one is founded with money from John Sununu's buddies in the oil industry. This is the sixth outside group run by Sununu's political allies to attack Shaheen in this election, bringing the total amount of outside money spent by Sununu's friends to almost $1.2 million so far.

"This group is run by oil tycoons with deep ties to John Sununu, and they're using their oil profits to attack Jeanne Shaheen with false ads," said Alex Reese, press secretary for the NHDP's Coordinated Campaign. "Sununu's buddies have spent almost $1.2 million in false ads against Shaheen in this election, and Sununu has refused to denounce these dirty tricks or even call on his friends to come clean and disclose their donors. Now, Sununu is using an outside group founded with oil money to bury New Hampshire voters in false ads that distort Shaheen's positions -- it's why nothing will change in Washington until we change Senators."
Fact Check: AFP's Ad Distorts Shaheen's Positions
AFP's ad attacks Shaheen's proposals to bring down the price of gas and decrease America's dependence on foreign oil. What's the truth about Shaheen's comprehensive plan to bring down the cost of oil and gas and move away from our dependence on foreign oil?
Shaheen's Plan Includes Increasing Domestic Production. Shaheen believes we should increase domestic oil production by drilling on the 68 million acres on land and offshore that oil companies already lease. A congressional report shows that 79% of known domestic oil reserves are in these areas already open for drilling, and we can double our domestic production by drilling these lands. We should also increase domestic production by pressuring refineries to increase their output.
Shaheen's Plan Will Immediately Make Oil and Gas More Affordable. Shaheen has proposed three steps to immediately make oil and gas more affordable for New Hampshire families that are struggling.
First, crack down on Wall Street speculators that are driving up the price of oil to boost their profits.
Second, release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to increase supply on the market.
Third, release oil from the Northeast Heating Oil Reserve to bring down the cost of heating oil for the winter.
Invest in Clean, Alternative Energy and Conservation. Shaheen knows that we can protect our environment, decrease our dependence on foreign oil, and create jobs right here in New Hampshire by investing in clean, renewable energy such as ethanol produced from wood byproducts. Shaheen also believes we must increase our conservation efforts. She has proposed expanding tax credits for weatherization to help bring down the cost of heating homes during the winter.
Who Are John Sununu's Buddies at AFP?
Americans for Prosperity is a D.C.-based group founded by John Sununu's political allies in the oil and gas industry. Now, they're doing Sununu's political dirty work to help him get elected by lying about Shaheen's positions.
AFP Founded by Money from Big Oil. AFP was founded by oil billionaire Charles Koch, one of Sununu's political allies who has donated $1,000 to Sununu's campaign. Koch's brother has also donated $1,000 to Sununu.
Koch Industries Was Fined Millions for Over 300 Oil Spills. Sununu's buddies at Koch Industries have been fined on multiple occasions for environmental violations, including the largest civil fine ever -- $30 million to clean up more than 300 oil spills.
Now, They're Spending Over $130,000 Doing Sununu's Political Dirty Work. Sununu's buddy Koch is now spending $130,305 through AFP to run false radio ads on 17 radio stations across New Hampshire attacking Jeanne Shaheen.
